Amazon compliance · researched Aug 2026

Amazon is your retailer and your regulator. Here's the current rulebook.

Amazon enforces a restricted-products policy, a misleading-claims policy, and category-specific rules all at once — and it reads the detail page the customer sees, not just your feed. This is the current landscape and where FeedZip intercepts it.

How FeedZip maps to Amazon

From claim to reinstatement

  1. 1

    Preflight the claim

Disease language, supplement-facts, and the FDA disclaimer layer — checked before the ASIN goes live.

  2. 2

    See the suppression risk

Which issue family is most likely to hide the ASIN, and which field Amazon will flag.

  3. 3

    Take the fix forward

Corrected copy and an evidence path for the Manage Your Compliance dashboard.

The current landscape

One claim now crosses three policy layers at once.

Amazon has tightened enforcement through 2025–2026. A supplement that claims to treat inflammation can now trip the Restricted Products policy, the Misleading & prohibited claims policy, and the dietary-supplement rules simultaneously — and each layer wants a different fix.

Ref G200164330

Restricted Products policy

The master policy layer. Defines what may be sold at all — gating entire categories (dietary supplements, OTC, medical devices, cosmetics) behind approval, certification, and documentation up front.

Ref G202024200

Misleading & prohibited claims

Requires all claims to be truthful and verifiable and to comply with consumer-protection law. Explicitly bans disease claims — diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent — without FDA approval. This is the policy that removes most supplement and wellness listings.

Ref G201829010

Dietary supplements policy

Category-specific rules for ingestibles: supplement-facts panels, the FDA disclaimer where applicable, CGMP manufacturing, and prohibitions on single/double-pill packs for sexual-enhancement and weight-loss products.

The core enforcement

Disease claims remove listings — in any category.

Amazon prohibits any product that implies or claims to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease in humans or animals without FDA approval. The rule does not care that your product is a candle or a serum — the claim is what's restricted.

Removed in practice

  • “improves joint mobility and reduces inflammation (rheumatoid arthritis)”
  • “relief of bronchospasm (asthma)”
  • Cardiovascular “treatment” claims on food listings

The path to reinstate

  1. Edit the listing to remove the prohibited claim
  2. Submit an appeal for the ASIN to be reviewed
  3. Upload authentic evidence (lab reports, FDA registration) if requested

Supplement enforcement · 2026

The March 31, 2026 supplement window is closing.

Amazon's dietary-supplement enforcement is tightening on misleading ingredient and dosing claims. Listings using “equivalent raw material” framing or creative reinterpretation of supplement facts face deactivation around March 31, 2026. Single- and double-pill packs remain prohibited for sexual-enhancement and weight-loss products, and CGMP documentation is increasingly required up front.

Review supplement titles, ingredient claims, and dosing language before the window closes — prioritize high-volume ASINs first.

Visibility, not just removal

Five states an Amazon ASIN can be in — and five different fixes.

Sellers treat “suppressed” as one thing. Amazon has at least five visibility states, each with its own signal and workflow. Treating them the same is why edits save but visibility never returns.

State
What it means
Where to fix
Search suppressed
ASIN exists but is hidden from search and browse.
Inventory → Manage All Inventory → Activate listings → "Search suppressed" filter. Open the flagged field.
At risk of suppression
Warning shown before visibility is restricted.
Same path, "At-risk" filter. Resolve the warning before it hardens into suppression.
Stranded inventory
FBA inventory disconnected from an active listing.
Fix Stranded Inventory tool. Reconnect or repair the offer–listing relationship.
Blocked / removed
Detail page removed or a policy notice issued.
Account Health / Performance Notifications. Follow the evidence or appeal path.
Buy-box suppressed
Page is discoverable but the Featured Offer is missing.
Pricing and Featured Offer diagnostics — this is an offer problem, not a compliance one.

Why listings get suppressed

Four issue families account for most suppression.

Amazon doesn't publish one universal trigger list — required values vary by product type and marketplace. Treat the Seller Central message as the primary evidence, then place it in the closest family below.

1

Missing / invalid attributes

Signal

A named field is blank or rejected

First action

Correct the category-specific value in the Issue(s) cell or via a category template.

2

Title, image, bullets, description

Signal

A specific content element is flagged

First action

Fix the exact element — image must fill ≥85% of frame, no promo claims or excessive symbols.

3

Restricted product, claim, or documentation

Signal

A policy or document request appears

First action

Remove unsupported claims or submit authentic evidence via Manage Your Compliance.

4

Variation / duplicate / contribution conflict

Signal

Edits save but the live page doesn't change

First action

Correct relationship data; another contribution may control the field — escalate with evidence.

Where compliance lives

The Manage Your Compliance dashboard is the control center.

Amazon consolidated safety and regulatory requirements into one dashboard under Performance → Compliance. It's where you submit documents, track approval status, prioritize by at-risk sales, and file appeals — instead of responding to compliance tasks one listing at a time.

One submission queue

Each product shows ASIN, SKU, the specific document required, and your approval status — no more one-by-one task responses.

Compliance Reference tool

Look up import, export, and product-safety requirements by category and destination — the rules behind the gate before you list.

At-risk sales prioritization

A column ranks which compliance needs threaten the most revenue, so you fix the highest-impact listings first.

The evidence path

When a listing is removed, the appeal is an evidence delivery — not an argument.

Amazon appeals are resolved by authentic documentation, not persuasion. The fastest path is a narrow one: fix the flagged root cause, upload proof, and resubmit the ASIN.

  1. 1

    Read the exact signal

Open the flagged issue and copy the precise field, policy message, or document request before changing anything.

  2. 2

    Fix the root cause only

Remove the prohibited claim or supply the requested documentation. Don't rewrite the whole listing.

  3. 3

    Submit evidence

Upload authentic proof — lab reports, FDA registration, CGMP, certifications — through the Manage Your Compliance dashboard.

  4. 4

    Resubmit the ASIN

If the listing was removed, submit a compliance appeal for the ASIN to be reviewed for reinstatement.

  5. 5

    Document and wait

Save the ASIN, SKU, screenshots, and timestamp. If status doesn't clear within the stated window, open a documented support case.

Questions

What sellers ask about Amazon compliance.

Is a suppressed ASIN the same as a removed listing?

No. A suppressed ASIN still exists in the catalog but is hidden from search and browse — fix the flagged field and visibility returns. A removed listing is a policy action in Account Health and follows the appeal path.

Why do disease claims trigger removal even for non-drug products?

Amazon prohibits any product that implies diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease without FDA approval. This applies to candles, creams, and supplements alike — the claim, not the category, is what's restricted.

What changes for supplement sellers around March 31, 2026?

Amazon's dietary-supplement enforcement is tightening on misleading ingredient and dosing claims. Listings using "equivalent raw material" framing or misleading supplement facts face deactivation. Review titles and ingredient claims before the window closes.

Where does FeedZip run before I publish on Amazon?

Before a new ASIN goes live, during category ungating, and before resubmission after a suppression — checking claim language, detail-page-to-feed consistency, and the supplement/disclaimer layer Amazon enforces at the page.
